Fire safety advice for lockdown
During the current Shelter in Place period, the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service (BFRS) is offering fire safety advice to the public in the form of Remote Home Fire Safety visits.
The BFRS notes that with more people at home, there is the likelihood of more people using such flammable materials as barbecues, candles and other items.
So the BFRS is keen to ensure that the public is aware of the appropriate fire safety methods.
Interested individuals can contact the BFRS between 9.00 am and 4.00 pm to set up a brief video meeting either using FaceTime Messenger, WhatsApp Messenger, Zoom Meeting, or Skype.
Once scheduled, a Fire Inspector will talk the resident(s) through general safety information on:
• Home Fire Safety
• Smoke Alarms
• Fire Extinguishers
• Cooking Fire Safety
• Candle Safety
• Flammable Liquid Storage
• Electrical Fire Safety
To request a Remote Home Fire Safety visit or for more information about the programme, email fireprotection@gov.bm. Once the request has been made a Fire Inspector will respond to arrange a date and time for the video remote meeting.
• Press release from Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service
