Endless Creations pottery studio closes
A pottery studio where people could paint their own ceramics has closed its doors for good because of the Covid-19 crisis, the owner revealed yesterday.
However, Doris Wade said that Endless Creations Pottery and Mosaic Studio will live on in the digital market.
She explained: “I’m going to do an online business, like pottery on wheels — that’s going to be the safer way for me to go forward and I think the most economical way in these times.
“We’ll have pottery to-go kits where people can go online and order it, and I’ll be able to deliver it for them to paint.
“When they’re finished they can give us a call or drop it off at my home office in Pembroke and it will be fired.”
Ms Wade, who opened Endless Creations in 2018 on the corner of King Street and Reid Street, Hamilton, said that she made the decision to close the studio because of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ms Wade said: “It can be a nightmare — I went through this in 2008 when we had the recession and that caused my lupus to kick in.
“It’s scarier with Covid-19 and the economy, I believe, is going to be much harder hit than it was in 2008, so I’m not willing to inject my health into this and get stressed out, which would put more problems on top of this.”
Ms Wade added: “I used to cry every day that I thought about it, but I’ve gotten over that.”
Endless Creations was established as a revival of her previous business, X-Clusive Creations, which closed in 2012 after Ms Wade suffered complications from lupus.
X-Clusive Creations had been in business for eight years.
Ms Wade said that she turned to a home delivery model after the Government imposed a state of emergency shut down of most businesses last month.
She added that she continued deliveries until the shelter in place regulations started almost four weeks ago.
Ms Wade said that she will continue home deliveries after restrictions are eased and launch the online store on July 1.
She added that she would keep running after-school programmes and summer camps centred around painting pottery painting, although she is still looking for suitable premises.
