Elderly man who went missing dies
A man found after he went missing for three days died in hospital yesterday.
Carlton Lowe, 71, was found near the Southampton Rangers Sports Club at about 6pm on Tuesday.
He had been missing since last Saturday.
Police said that Mr Lowe was taken to hospital with injuries to his face and dehydration after he was found by a member of the public.
Mr Lowe was the brother of Stanley Lowe, a former Speaker of the House of Assembly, who died last Sunday, aged 82.
Commissioner of Police Stephen Corbishley offered condolences to Mr Lowe’s family yesterday.
Mr Corbishley said that police and other agencies had “expended significant resources and effort” to find Mr Lowe and reunite him with his family.
He added: “Their prayers were answered ... when Mr Lowe was found by a member of the public and taken to hospital where, sadly, he passed away. Our thoughts are with the Lowe family at this difficult time.”
Mr Lowe was the second elderly person to die after going missing over the coronavirus lockdown.
Police said on Tuesday that a body found at Elbow Beach, Paget, was that of Robert Douglas.
Mr Douglas, aged 72, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, was last seen in person at his home in My Lord’s Bay, Hamilton Parish, on March 24.
He worked at The Royal Gazette before he became an insurance salesman and he later joined the taxi trade.
