A fresh airport logo has been unveiled for the new terminal by operator Skyport. The design, created by Bermudian graphics firm SJD World, will be featured throughout the terminal.A spokeswoman for Skyport said that the new logo was designed to reflect the state-of-the-art look of the building. The logo features a cahow in flight against a pink and blue “BDA” positioned above “Bermuda LF Wade International Airport”.Stephan Johnstone, who helped to design the logo, said that it was important to make the “country-code” as prominent as the airport name.He added that it was also crucial to feature traditional elements the island, such as a pink and blue colour scheme and the cahow.Mr Johnstone said: “We mocked up a number of different symbols that represented Bermuda in both literal and abstract forms.“In the end we selected the cahow because it not only speaks to our culture, but also to forward flight, movement and progress.”He added the cahow was also a nod to the address of the original airport terminal — No 3 Cahow Way.Mr Johnstone said: “They always return home to where they were born.”The release of the logo came after Zane DeSilva, the Minister of Tourism and Transport, said on Thursday that passenger flights were expected to return on July 1 — the start of final phase of reopening the island.Air arrivals will go through a five-stage process that will start before their departure and end when they return home.Requirements will include a clear coronavirus test inside 72 hours before departure and wearing a mask throughout the flight.
