Island swim team in Jamaica
Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association have sent their largest team ever to the Carifta Swimming Championships in Kingston, Jamaica this weekend.
A total of 13 young swimmers made the trip, all of them taking part in a two-day training camp prior to the start of the four-day meet today.
The championships feature teams from 14 countries within the Caribbean area and some 400 swimmers will be participating.
Returning to the meet, at the top of her 11 and 12 age group, is Ashley Yearwood, who is joined in that bracket by Morgan Hopkins and Nick Patterson, both taking part in their first international meet.
In the 13 and 14 age group Nicole Yearwood and Rebecca Heyliger return for their third Carifta meet. Stephanie Myles and Rachael Petty will also be racing in the same age division.
The oldest age group is for 15 to 17 year-olds in which Eleanor Gardner and Lara Loescher will compete.
The Bermuda boys in that division will be led by Nick Thomson and Denzel Wellman who will be joined this year by Kellan DeSilva and Julian Fletcher.
