Sun get it wrong — again!
Contrary to a report in yesterday’s Bermuda Sun headlined ‘Royal Gazette gets it wrong’, it was in fact The Sun, as reported in this newspaper on Thursday, who got their story wrong and were the subject of a complaint by national cricket coach Gus Logie.
The Sun attempted yesterday to blame this newspaper after admitting their columnist George Holdipp had ‘lifted’ comments made by Logie printed by The Gazette regarding the possibility of a national cricket tour to England.
But the paper freely admitted it had not checked the facts of the story, which could have been done with a simple phone call to Logie.
The Gazette, however, stands by the accuracy of its original story.
Regarding The Sun article, Logie told this newspaper: “I spoke to the editor and told him that was totally erroneous and I wanted it retracted right away.
“There is no truth to that article and I don’t know where he got his sources from. I guess it was just a figment of his imagination.”
