Runners tackle Round Town race

Entries for the popular Flying Colours Round the Town 5K road race this Sunday close on Wednesday afternoon.

The race normally attracts more than 50 runners and a similar number of youngsters take part in the KPMG race series two-miler that is held on the city streets just before the main event.

Otis Robinson won last year’s race in 18 minutes 35 seconds, while Rosa Peichoto was the leading woman.

Runners will complete four city laps that include a stretch along Front Street, Reid Street and Queen Street where the race finishes in front of sponsor Riihiluoma’s Flying Colours store.

Organised by the Mid Atlantic Athletic Club, the races will feature prizes in various age categories as well as spot prizes.

Entries officially close at 4.45 p.m. on Wednesday and can be dropped off at Sportseller in Washington Mall. Otherwise late entries for an increased fee can be made on Saturday at the Flying Colours shop where race numbers can also be collected.
