Tireless Rabain keeps on improving
Whoever said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks ought to have a word with Port Royal golf pro Frankie Rabain.
Last week the 75-year-old received his level three Professional Golf Association coaching certificate — an achievement which Rabain reckons makes him the highest qualified teaching pro in Bermuda.
It took Rabain seven months of hard slog to complete the assignments — which are done by correspondence — but now that the certificate’s finally arrived in the mail he recognises it was all worth it.
“It was a little tough fitting it in — I’d have to study after I knocked off or in my lunch break,” he said yesterday.
“I enjoyed doing it though, I always try and keep the mind alive by challenging myself with new things. There was plenty of stuff that I knew already, but also other things that I didn’t and have helped me look at the game from a different perspective.”
