Crockwell ban confirmed

Bermuda Football Association (BFA) yesterday disclosed their decisions from the last disciplinary hearings held in late April and earlier this month.

As previously reported Boulevard and Bermuda Hogges striker Shaki Crockwell was slapped with an additional three-match suspension after serving an automatic one-game ban for head-butting Devonshire Colts' captain Joseph Butterfield during last month's FA Cup final at the National Sports Centre (NSC).

Crockwell was charged with violent conduct for his Zinedine Zidane-like head-butt on Butterfield and will now miss Blazers' first three games next season and be on probation for a year.

Blazers team-mate Nathan Darrell also received a three-match ban and probation for the whole of next season for bringing the game into disrepute.

Darrell had to be restrained by team-mates from confronting referee Lyndon Raynor during last month's FA Cup final that saw four players sent off.

BAA's Adam Shaw and Steven Black — who has appealed against his punishment — also received three-match bans and were put on probation until next December for bringing the game into disrepute.

The BAA pair were dealt with for hurling abusive language towards match officials during the Green Knights March 10 contest with Commercial Knockout Cup champions Key West Rangers.

Robin Hoods' Trevor O'Driscoll has been banned for three matches as well and put on probation for the entirety of next season for swearing at match officials during his team's April 1 match with Key West Rangers.

Somerset Eagles' Ruffins Hill also did not escape unpunished as he too will now serve a three-match suspension at the start of next season after being found guilty of swearing at fans during his team's March 4 First Division encounter with X Roads Warriors. Hill has also been put on probation for the entire 2007-08 season.

Also up on charges for bringing the game into disrepute were Ireland Rangers' Curtis Grant and Somerset Hurricanes' Dani Raynor.

Grant was slapped with a five-game ban and put on probation until April 18, 2008 for swearing at a match official during Rangers' March 13 contest against Somerset Eagles.

Raynor received a three-match ban and was put on a year's probation for violent conduct towards a match official, using profanity and having to be restrained by team-mates during Somerset's March 18 clash with Lady Rams.
