Sims facing another missed cut

Michael Sims will most likely have to produce a round several shots under par at the $625,000 BMW Charity Pro-Am today if he is not to miss his eighth cut in ten events on the Nationwide Tour this year.

The Bermuda number one fired a five-over par 76 at the 7,023-yard course at The Cliffs in Greenville, South Carolina yesterday — an effort which included two double-bogeys and four bogeys together with three birdies to leave him languishing very near the bottom of the field.

Canadian David Hearn leads the event after shooting a brilliant nine-under round of 63.

Sims told The Royal Gazette late last week he was generally happy with the way he was playing but needed to improve his birdie ratio on par fives and his overall putting stats.

And while he did end up making birdies at three out of the The Cliff’s four par fives, it was his wayward play on the shorter holes which cost him dear this time around.
