Sims suffers another early exit

Michael Sims missed his ninth cut in 11 tournaments this season on the Nationwide Tour after finishing seven-over par after two rounds at the Melwood Prince George's County Open in Maryland yesterday.

Starting the day at four-over after self-destructing in the first round with two bogeys and a triple bogey in the space of six holes on the back nine, the Bermuda number one just couldn't get anything going with the projected cut hovering around the two-under mark.

Sims eventually carded a three-over 74 on the 7,009-yard Woodmore Country Club course in Mitchelville — a round which included three birdies and six bogeys.

Next week, Sims is scheduled to travel to the second-most lucrative event on the Nationwide Tour calendar, the $750,000 La Salle Bank Open in Glenview, Illinois.

With only $2,807 in prize money to this name so far this year, the 28-year-old is 190th in the Tour's money list and is therefore going to have to produce something fairly special in the remaining 21 tournaments if he is to avoid having to re-earn his Tour card at Q-School in November-December.
