<Bz17>Burgess set to sign for Hogges

Bermuda international Nigel Burgess could sign for the Bermuda Hogges later today as the club look to add to their goalkeeping department.

The 19-year-old gloveman has recently returned from college in the US and is keen to play for his former national team boss Kyle Lightbourne.

The 26-year-old trained with Bermuda's first professional football outfit last night and, subject to having his application approved by the United Soccer League, will be included in the squad that travels to America this evening for back-to-back games against Crystal Palace Baltimore and reigning champs Richmond Kickers.

It is understood that first-choice 'keeper Timmy Figuereido will not be able to travel because of work commitments — leading to speculation that Burgess could well be selected as the Hogges' first-choice keeper over the weekend.

Burgess has been playing in the NCAA first division for Howard University and was a regular member of the Lightbourne's and assistant Paul Scope's Digicel Cup national team squads earlier this year.
