<Bz17>Jamaicans here for Argus Open

Andy Bray’s quest for a second consecutive Grand Slam is set to get a whole lot tougher after it emerged that members of Jamaica’s Davis Cup team are to be flown in for the Argus Open which begins next month.

It is understood that the Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association are planning to fly in players from both Jamaica’s Davis and Fed Cup teams to improve the quality of the competing field — which in the men’s game at least has been dominated by the big-serving Bray for almost two years. It has also been learned that the BLTA are seeking a reciprocal arrangement with Jamaica, whereby the Island’s best players will be allowed to travel to the Caribbean to compete. The third domestic ranking tennis tournament of the summer will be held at WER Joell Tennis Stadium from July 5 to July 14.
