Rowing in the coxed fours for her school The Peddie School Bermudian Shelley Pearson recently competed in the US Junior National Championships from Friday June 8 to Sunday June 10.They cruised through the heats on Friday and the semis on Saturday before rowing superbly to capture the title on Sunday — winning by over a boat length.
The regatta was open to schools and clubs across the US and teams had to qualify for the weekend by placing first or second in the qualifying regional championships. This win at the nationals capped a successful season in which her team went undefeated — including wins at the prestigious City Championships and the Stotesbury Cup Regatta — the largest high school regatta in the US.
