Young cricketers to strut their stuff
The best young cricketers in Bermuda will be strutting their stuff today at the National Sports Centre as the Bermuda Cricket Board's Youth Leagues reach a grand finale with three All-Star Games.
The top players from the Hiscox Under-10 league, the Bermuda Security Group Under-13 League and the BF&M Under-16 League will be on show from 9.30 a.m. this morning and the Board is encouraging as many people as possible to come out and support our potential cricketing stars of the future.
The Under-10 All Star Game is the first on and will finish at noon, with the Under-13 match scheduled to start directly afterwards. The Under-16s are in action at 5.30 p.m..
BCB president Reggie Pearman was very happy with the way in which the revamped youth leagues have progressed this year.
"I am very much looking forward to the games this weekend where we will see the best of each team compete to win the All Star Championships," he said.
"I know that these leagues have built on the strength of previous years and the numbers of participants — over 500 — clearly proves this. The youth leagues have a strong emphasis on inclusion for all, where girls and boys alike can learn the game of cricket in a safe and nurturing environment and so to see a number of girls participating is very heartening as we believe this will only increase."
