Lewicki tears it up at Tuckers Point
Adam Lewicki from Connecticut scorched the Tucker's Point Club golf course with a three-under par 67 to capture the 2007 Ross Blackie Talbot Junior International over the weekend.
The 17-year-old Lewicki, who started the day seven shots behind leader — local Terence Daniels — set a tournament record with nines of 33 and 34.
He produced three birdies and eagled the par-five 15th, to go with only twp bogeys — a display which left Daniels and last year's champion Daniel Augustus fighting over second place in the 18-20 category.
Lewicki also captured the 15-17 year-old title in the process — finishing some seven shots ahead of second place finisher Jun Hardart.
Terence and Daniel had to have a play-off to decide their age group — with Daniels edging Augustus on the 18th hole.
Alex Osborne repeated his feat of last year when he carded an even-par 70 to win the 12-14 age division with a 226, 54- hole total.
Osborne's round included two birdies and two bogeys, which helped him finish 11 shots ahead of Anthony Phipps from Florida.
Columbian Maribel Lopez Porras, who maintained her steady play with a six-over par 76, had a see-saw battle with Megan Jones of France to squeeze ahead of the defending champion and become this year's girls champion.
Porras' round included three birdies and she began to separate herself from the challengers when she birdied the 12th while Jones bogied the same hole.
In the novices division, Christopher Rego fired an eight-over 43 as he caught overnight leader Simon Benevides to win the title.
A total of 52 young golfers took part in what was the second annual event sponsored by Tyco.
