Fisher finds form at right time
Exciting matches continued at the Argus Open with the some clear skies and no rain delays. Sasha Fisher took a set to warm up against Jacklyn Lambert but found her groove and took the match 3-6, 6-3, 6-0.
Sasha Fisher plays Division I tennis in California this past year at University of Pacific. She plays No. 5/6 position on the singles roster and the No. 1 spot for doubles.
In a great match from this past season, freshman Sasha Fisher won a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 decision against Harvard University player Julia Forgie a No. 5 singles to win the match for Pacific.
Sasha’s sisters Kara and Zoe also play college tennis in California. Kara is at CalPoly Pomona a Division II collegiate team playing No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles, while Zoe is on the squad at Pitzer Pomona College, a Division III tennis team ranked 8th in the nation.
Chase Toogood, who ousted Jamaican Davis Cup player Tyler Chin, tried to repeat his win on Wednesday against 19-year-old local David Thomas. Thomas, who has been training in Texas this year and is a leaner and fitter version of himself, held Chase back to take the win 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Jovan Whitter and Caitlin Conyers came back from a set down against mother and son team Allison and Neal Towlson. After splitting sets, a disappointing ten point tie-breaker for the mother and son went to Whitter and Conyers 4-6, 6-4, (10-2).
