Bad day in pool for duo
It was a disappointing night for Bermuda’s swimmers who took to the pool yesterday for the heats series at the Aquatic Park on a rainy night in Rio.
Kiera Aitken, who carried the Island’s flag at the Opening Ceremony finished 21st out of 23 swimmers with a time of 27.67 seconds in the women’s 50m freestyle. The 23-year-old had qualified for event with a time of 28.04 seconds. She will be back in action today in the women’s 100m backstroke.
Roy Allan Burch finished 19th out of 20 competitors with a time of 53.12 seconds in the men’s 100m freestyle.
Neither swimmer qualified for this morning’s semi-final events.
The 21-year-old Burch will be hoping for a better placing in the men’s 50m freestyle on Friday, while Aitken will compete in the women’s 200m backstroke.
