Police 213

Devonshire 215 for seven

Veterans Allen Richardson and Ricky Brangman turned back the clock at Police Field yesterday where Devonshire recorded a three-wicket win over Central Counties rivals Police.

In reply to their hosts’ respectable total, Devonshire were made to sweat it out for victory with Richardson leading the way with 70 off 103 balls and Brangman an equally impressive 42 off 43 balls.

Richardson cracked ten fours and reached his half century off 86 balls in 137 minutes .Newcomer Jeremy Fray continued his rich vein of fine form by chipping in with 38 off 44 balls in a knock containing seven fours.

Off-break spinner Andy Cumberbatch was the pick of the Police bowling, claiming two for 60 off ten overs. Earlier, Carlton Jackson hammered 12 fours and a six off 144 balls in a top knock of 79 and skipper Garvin Aparicio hit 43 off 76 balls as Police rattled up 213 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted overs after being sent in to bat.

Off-spinners Derek Brangman and Richardson did the damage with the ball for the visitors, Brangman seizing two for 32 and Richardson two for 35.

Willow Cuts 183

Bailey’s Bay 183

Visiting Willow Cuts came away with a share of the spoils in this fiercely contested First Division encounter that ended in a tie.

Chasing 184 for victory, Bailey’s Bay were firmly on course at 161 for three with skipper Stephen Outerbridge in full flow at the crease.

But once Outerbridge was sensationally caught by teenager Duentay Darrell at mid off for a well played 79, the hosts lost their remaining six wickets - including last man Kevin Richardson (0) on the fourth ball of the final over - for a mere 22 runs.

Veteran seamer Charles (Bucky) Swan did most of the damage, claiming three additional wickets during a second spell with the old ball to bag overall figures of four for 26. Swan found a good ally in all rounder Sheroy Fubler who also proved to be a thorn in Bay’s side. Fubler took three 31 as Bay were restricted to 183 all out in 49.4 overs.

Earlier, Fubler blasted 56 and 14-year-old Shervin Hall 33 to top the Cuts’ batting.

Seamer Jim West produced one his best outings with the ball to date. The part-time fisherman took four for 45 while understudy Reid Trott had two for 19 and leg break spinner Tre Govia two for 32 respectively

>PHC 190

Warwick 168

Visitors PHC recorded a 22- run win over Western Counties rivals Warwick at Southampton Oval.

Bermuda Under-19 reject Chris Douglas - sent home early from the Sir Gary Sobers International Schools Tournament in Barbados for disciplinary reasons - proved to be the scourge of the PHC batsmen by grabbing five for 30 off ten overs with four maidens as the visitors were dismissed in 37 overs.

The big-hitting Arthur Richards led the PHC batting with 56.In reply, Douglas smashed 29 runs while skipper Kion Butterfield added 24 and Jade Darrell 28. However, tight bowling from seamer Shoron Hunt (four for 42) and veteran off break spinner Sidney Simmons (three for 23) saw PHC pull off a narrow victory.

Leg Trappers 224

Somerset Bridge 86

Leg Trappers thrashed Somerset Bridge by 138 runs at White Hill Field.

Bridge’s decision to send the visitors in to bat backfired with World Cup veteran Saleem Mukuddem belting 87 and Steven Drake 52 to see to it that Leg Trappers posted sufficient runs on the board for their bowlers to sink their teeth into.

Seamer Donnie Charles took three for 32 to lead the Bridge bowling.

Trappers made light work of their hosts in the field, with Mukuddem capping off a superb all round performance by bagging three for 18 off five overs of seam.
