Big-hitter Kane drives into Euro final
A Bermudian who first made his mark as a high jumper is now hitting the headlines in another sport.
Ronan Kane, who lives in Ireland but was brought up and went to school in Bermuda, represented the Island at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in the high jump but since then has turned his attention to golf.
And recently he qualified for the European Long Drive Championships which will be held in Amsterdam, Holland in September.
At the Irish Championships in Tipperary, held earlier this month, Kane walloped his longest drive 347 yards, the overall best of the day being 373 yards.
However, the son of World Rugby Classic founder John Kane, believes he can improve considerably on that distance as he entered the event using a conventional driver whereas most competitors were using the specially-designed long driving clubs.
