St. George's Colts 1 Ireland Rangers 0

A disputed penalty, converted by Allan Douglas jr after 41 minutes, saw home side Colts take sole possession of top spot in the First Division after this clash at Wellington Oval yesterday.

Referee George O'Brien awarded the spot kick after a linesman ruled an infringement by a Rangers defender – infuriating the visitors.

While Douglas' goal proved suffient to earn all three points, a share of the spoils might have been justified as there was little to choose between the two hard-working sides.

Rangers held a slight advantage in the opening half but star striker Jonathon Bean and Lloyd Telford missed several chances. And Colts were unlucky up front also, especially when Douglas struck the upright.

The second half saw both teams attacking but failing to stretch either Fred Hall in the Colts' goal or Nathan Darrell in the Rangers' goal.

And when it looked as though Rangers would force an equaliser, the home team defence, marshalled by veteran Neil Paynter, held firm.

As St. David's were held to a scoreless draw at Lord's against visiting Somerset Trojans, they slipped into second place with Colts claiming the outright lead.

X'Roads 2 BAA Wanders 1

Two goals in the second half saw bottom-of-the-table X'Roads come from behind to beat BAA Wanderers at Garrison Field.

Losers to the Wanders by a similar score earlier in the season, X'Roads emerged victorious this time around thanks to a winner from Jason Anderson after 65 minutes.

For a while it looked as though BAA might be able to move away from second last in the table, but their defence just couldn't hold out after Kyle Monkman gave them a 1-0 lead before the break.

Kejon Trott levelled for X'Roads after 55 minutes and then the stage was set for Anderson to stun the Wanders with the deciding goal.

Overall BAA held territorial advantage and had enough chances to put their opponents away, Gary Adams guilty of missing a sitter and substitue Antoine Lugo blowing another chance in the second half after doing well to get into a scoring position.

Somerset Eagles 3 Young Men's Social Club 1

A Darrin Dowling hat-trick guided Somerset Eagles to this emphatic victory at Bernard Park yesterday.

Dowling struck twice in the first half and then completed his treble in the second to give his side all three points in a match they never looked like losing.

A menacing presence from the outset, Dowling along with Adolphus Lambert and Rodre Wilson, caused Social Club all sorts of problems at the back and could quite easily have made the scoreline more emphatic than what it was.

Social Club skipper Andrew Samuels scored the home side's lone strike from the penalty spot.

Prospect United 1 Wolves 0

Prospect defeated Wolves courtesy of a Jacobi Darrell lobbed goal late in the match at Police Field.

The goal came in controversial fashion with Darrell, who was racing in on goal, being bought down just outside the box as he was attempting his chance at goal with the referee blowing her whistle.

However, after consulting with the linesman, the goal was given instead of a free kick, much to the dismay of the Wolves' players and fans alike.

Wolves also had a player sent off for violent conduct.

St. David's 0 Somerset 0

St. David's and Trojans had to be content with a share of the points.

St. David's had the best chances in the match but couldn't find the back of the net against a 10-man Trojans side who had a man sent off.
