It's 'do or die' time for Colts
Devonshire Colts skipper Aljame Zuill says it's "do or die" time for his team when they put their Premier Division status on the line tonight against First Division third-placed team St. David's in the first of two play-off legs.
Colts, one the Island's most illustrious clubs, have had a horrid season winning only one game – an FA Cup victory over Robin Hood – and finished rock bottom of the Premier Division.
But their talisman Zuill has backed his shot-shy team-mates to find their goalscoring touch and ensure they remain in the top flight for next season.
The Bermuda international striker has been sidelined with injuries for much of this season but will suit up for his beloved club to help their Premier Division survival.
"Our mentality will be do or die," said Zuill. "
We haven't had a good season, so it has to be turned around at some point and now will be as good a time as any.
"I can't say the season went all right, but we have a good young team."
Colts have scored only eight goals this year, while conceding a staggering 35 but Zuill is still optimistic about their chances of survival.
"The only thing that is lacking is confidence in themselves," he said.
"Once they get self -onfidence, they will be OK because they are a great bunch of guys to be around.
"We just need to stick together and things will work out.
"It would be a horror season if we do get relegated. We have given up more goals thea in any past year I can remember and we haven't scored ten goals all season.
"So it would be a bad thing but that's how things go sometimes, but you have to right the ship and move on.
"It comes down to the guys on the pitch at the end of the day. Only they determine what happens in the game."
The match kicks off at the National Sports Centre at 7.30 p.m.
