Breaking News - Stanford 20/20 squad announced

Under 19 World Cup rejects Machai Campbell, MacLaren Smith and Ray Butterfield have now been included in a 16-member squad that will represent Bermuda at next month’s Stanford 20/20 Tournament in Antigua.

The Under 19 trio were all overlooked for selection to the Island’s Under 19 World Cup squad that will fly Bermuda’s banner in Malaysia next month.

But with an eye on the future Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) have not allowed the youngster's budding talents to go untapped, and they will now receive the opportunity to broaden their horizons at the senior level in the Caribbean instead.

Bermuda take on inaugural Stanford 20/20 champions Guyana at the Stanford Cricket Ground in Antigua February 10 and depart for Jamaica for a series of pre-tournament warm ups February 1.

National squad skipper Irving Romaine will again lead the Island’s cause with a team that is without rising stars Rodney Trott and Malachi Jones.

Jones and Trott will represent Bermuda at next month’s Under 19 World Cup instead.

Suspended all rounder Janeiro Tucker was overlooked for selection while despite landing himself in hot water on Bermuda's tour of Kenya last fall St.David's slugger Lionel Cann has been included in the team along with

Glamorgan skipper David Hemp.

The squad also contains a few new faces in wicketkeeper/batsman Ricardo Brangman Jr, fast bowler Traddie Simpson and spinner Garvin Aparcio.

During their last Stanford 20/20 appearance in 2006 Bermuda were skittled out for a paltry 74 by a Chris Gayle led Jamaica but hope to make a better showing this time around.
