20-20 at Somerset
Bermuda?s first multi-club 20-20 tournament has entered its second year at Somerset Cricket Club and has attracted entries from over a dozen teams.
The brainchild of Winston Reid and Anthony Bailey at the West End club ? Somerset?s 20-20 event has proved a real hit so far both with players and spectators.
The second round of matches are scheduled to get underway tonight and Friday under floodlights.
The hosts play Somerset Bridge this evening starting at 6.30 p.m. followed by Cleveland and Western Stars at eight.
Tomorrow, St. George?s and Jamaican Association are the first match on, followed by Bailey?s Bay and Social Club.
?We?re really pleased by how people seem to have bought into the tournament,? said Somerset?s Mark Trott.
?Winston and Anthony recognised that with the growing popularity of 20-20 cricket worldwide, this might be an opportunity for us to follow suit and it has worked out really well so far.
?We only charge a $5 entry fee and the canteen is open all night, and last week we got at least 200 people coming out to watch the cricket. The tournament runs every Thursday and Friday right to the end of September, so hopefully as time goes on and more people here about it, we?ll get some even bigger crowds.?
