A huge, huge shame

?It is a huge, huge shame that they didn?t put squash in,? said Bermudian world number 66 Nick Kyme yesterday.

?The Olympics is the pinnacle. A lot of guys on the tour were going to prolong their careers to hang around and try and earn an Olympic place. The Commonwealth Games were the greatest events I have played in and it would have been great for Bermudian squash players to aspire to making the next level.?

Ross Triffit, one of the men behind the hugely successful Virtual Spectator Bermuda Masters hosted here earlier this year, shared Kyme?s disappointment.

?Squash has come a long way in recent years and events like our one here really took things to a new level,? said Triffit, who had invited IOC members from England to the event.

?It is a shame the IOC couldn?t come and see what we?re doing because if they did they would have been impressed.

?The game is evolving and with companies like Virtual Spectator being involved, with all their experience in enhancing the sport for the spectator, squash is progressing.

?Maybe this came a year or two too early for squash but we would certainly like to think it has a chance of making it in the future.?
