A match to remember Randy

The second annual Randy Swan Memorial match will take place at BAA field tomorrow night ? a tribute to the former Bermuda and Dandy Town player killed in a car crash in late 2004.

Hundreds turned out for the inaugural match last year at St. John's Road between the Premier Division side and their Commercial Division counterparts the Dandy Town Roots and organiser Cal Blakendal said he is expecting a similar attendance this time around.

The match is being held at BAA because Western Stars are busy getting their St. John's Road ground ready for the cricket season which begins a week on Saturday.

Entry to the game will be free, but donations towards the Randy Swan Scholarship Fund are to be collected during the match.

Swan graduated from Bermuda College with a degree in business studies and was about to head for America on a football scholarship when his life was ended prematurely.

The fund was established with the aim of supporting any future Hornets footballers serious about pursuing education overseas.

Swan's uncle, Treadwell (Bumfy) Walker ? who normally plays for North Village's Commercial League side ? will be making a special appearance in the colours of the Roots.

The match begins at 7.30 p.m. and was won last year by the Hornets 5-1.
