Aitken seventh in final
Kiera Aitken came seventh in her Commonwealth Games 50 metre backstroke final in Melbourne today, finishing with a time of 30.00, just short of her personal best and the Bermuda national record she set in the semi-finals.
Aitken believed to be the first Bermudian woman to qualify for a swimming final at the Commonwealth Games, finished 0.01 seconds shy of her own record of 29.99 in the race, won by Sophie Edington of Australia who finished in 28.42.2 to lead an Australian sweep of the medals.
