Former Bermuda professional boxer Freddy Thomas is to present a charity showing of the new movie 'Ali' at the Little Theatre later this month.

The film, starring Will Smith as former heavyweight great Muhammad Ali, recently hit the screens in the US and has received glowing reviews.

Thomas will present the film at 9.30 p.m. on Friday, January 18, when he hopes to raise funds for the Physical Abuse Centre and the Coalition for the Protection of Children.

Tickets will be sold for $25, available at Four Star Pizza locations, and Thomas is encouraging patrons to wear dinner jacket and jeans.

Thomas fought as a middleweight throughout the US and Europe during the 1960s.

During Muhammad Ali's two visits to Bermuda in the 1970s, he helped organise sparring sessions for the champion, drove him around the Island and still has in his possession a pair of Ali's gloves.
