Bailey bags first in Florida regatta

Young sailor Anthony Bailey placed second overall and first in his age group when he competed among a huge fleet at the recent Orange Bowl Optimist regatta in Miami, Florida.

Bailey was among two sets of Bermuda brothers who flew the Island flag at Coconut Grove where 615 sailors from around the globe competed between December 27 and 30 in several classes of boats.

The Optimists numbered 179, all of them taking part in 12 races under blue skies and breezy conditions ranging from light winds to winds over 20 knots.

Anthony Bailey was by far the most successful of the four Bermuda sailors with his brother, Antonio, placing 124th overall and 10th in his age group.

Blake Burgess finished 46th overall and 32nd in his age group while Kyle Burgess was 66th overall and 19th in his age group.
