Battered Blazers eager to get even
Boulevard Blazers have a score to settle.
Still smarting from a 6-1 spanking at the hands of Somerset Trojans last month, Albert Smith?s side are seeking to avenge that humiliating defeat at BAA Field tonight.
The Blazers picked up a first win against Ireland Rangers last weekend while Trojans? over-defensive approach late in their match against PHC Zebras prevented them from taking maximum points.
?It was a big win for us and a morale booster and I think the guys are beginning to come into their own and believe more in themselves,? said coach Smith yesterday
?The guys are mores serious and the motivation is there.?
But while Blazers? triumph in their previous outing would have done their confidence the world of good, they will have to dig deeper than they did against Rangers if they are to prevail over Dennis Brown?s well-drilled Trojans squad.
?It would be nice to return the favour and all things are possible. We just need to turn up with the right attitude to play,? Smith added.
For long spells Boulevard looked unsettled in their overall approach but thanks to late strikes from Dwight (Payback) Warren and Shaki Crockwell all ended well.
?Wins don?t have to be pretty sometimes . . . three points is all that matters at the end of the day,? Smith reasoned.
Blazers? roster is expected to undergo a subtle change, striker Angelo Simmons returning to the line-up after sitting out the previous match while Trojans are without interim captain Sean Simmons ? sent off against Zebras. However, Jelani Scott and Terry Sousa could return from nagging injuries.
Turning to tomorrow, Dandy Town Hornets are set to renew their rivalry with Devonshire Colts at the Barn. Both teams are coming off losses in their season-openers and therefore seeking to get things on track and collect precious points.
At nearby Bernard Park, North Village lock horns with PHC Zebras while league champions Devonshire Cougars can?t wait to sink their claws into Ireland Rangers at the Den.
In First Division action, Wolves host unbeaten league leaders X Roads Warriors at the Den, St.George?s welcome Southampton Rangers to Wellington Oval while Hamilton Parish just might have their prayers answered at Lords with a first win of the season against Social Club.
Elsewhere, Prospect United tackle Paget at Police Field while St.David?s have their work cut out for them in the second match of a double-header slated for Lords.
