Bay forced to hang on after Romaine, Trott hit centuries
Despite getting centuries from Irvine Romaine and Dennis Trott, Bailey?s Bay had to battle hard to resist a spirited fightback by Cleveland in this Premier Division limited overs game at Sea Breeze Oval on Saturday.
Bay eventually won by 45 runs.
Some solid batting enabled Bay to reach their formidable total with Romaine tuning up for the ICC Trophy with a top score of 119 not out, including eight fours and eight sixes. Opener Trott, meanwhile, finished on 100 with 12 fours and two sixes. The pair added 82 for the fourth wicket.
Others in double figures were Corey Hill on 27, Burton Outerbridge (16 not out) and Jermaine Outerbridge (11).
Dennis Musson was the leading Cleveland bowler with two for 29 off seven overs while Charles Richardson had two for 42 off 10 overs and skipper Carlton Smith claimed two for 72 off eight overs.
Veteran batsman Aaron Adams spearheaded Cleveland?s response with a brisk 88, striking 10 fours and four sixes while Jason Simons thumped 65, Kevin Shiell 37, skipper Smith 21 and Damon Rabain 14.
Jim West spearheaded Bay?s bowling attack with three for 49 off 10 overs while spinner Romaine took two for 39 off 10 overs.
