BCB scoop prize at ICC awards

Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) were the 'big winners' at the International Cricket Council's (ICC) development programme annual awards, scooping the prize for best overall cricket development programme.

They also picked up the photo of the year accolade, called "It's a Catch" capturing Dwayne (Sluggo) Leverock's one-handed slip catch to dismiss Robin Uthappa off Malachi Jones' first ball in last year's senior World Cup.

A delighted Reginald Pearman, president of the BCB, said: "I am excited and proud that Bermuda cricket has won these distinguished awards, which confirm that we are making progress in the right direction when it comes to our strategic goals.

"I am particularly pleased with the growth in our junior membership and the fact that our women's team participated in the ICC Women's World Cup qualifier in Stellenbosch (South Africa) and our youngsters appeared in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Malaysia makes me even more proud."

Bermuda's Under-19s recently competed in their maiden World Cup in Malaysia where they triumphed in one match against Ireland. The women's national team failed to taste victory in their World Cup qualifiers in South Africa and were skittled out for just 13 against the host nation.
