Bell?s toll is three as Cougars pounce into final
Defending Women?s FA Cup champions Lady Cougars stormed through to the final on the broad shoulders of forward Cheyra Bell.
Picking the right moment to showcase her goal-scoring prowess, Bell converted in the 63rd, 79th (pen) and 89th minutes to complete a memorable display of marksmanship after Naquita Dill had earlier given Lady Cougars a 14th minute lead.
However, the final scoreline did Cougars little justice as they repeatedly blew clear-cut chances and in all honesty should have won this FA Cup semi-final by a wider margin.
But with every slice, lob or mis-kicked chance in the box, Hurricanes were spared the blushes by the menacing yet lady-like Cougars.
Dill forged the perennial cup giants ahead with a wind-assisted corner kick that curled across the line.
Cougars continued to press forward in numbers, only to run out of ideas when it mattered most.
But thanks to Bell?s superb second-half hat-trick, Cougars were compensated for their ineptitude in front of the sticks.
Bell netted Cougars second midway through the second half by finishing off a brilliant solo run at goal. The Cougars forward then notched her second from the penalty spot before getting behind the Somerset defence and applying the finishing touches to what proved to be a magical display at Wellington Oval ? much to the delight of her joyous team-mates.
