Bermuda bats collapse
A riproaring start counted for little as Bermuda crumbled to 177 all out in 46 overs in the second of their ICC Tri-Series one-day matches against Holland this morning.
Having lost by five wickets to Canada yesterday, Bermuda remain the only team yet to register a win in the tournament and will now need a spectacular bowling effort this afternoon to end the drought.
Clay Smith and Dean Minors, in an experimental opening partnership, hammered 50 runs off the first 7.1 overs after skipper Irving Romaine had won the toss and elected to bat.
But after Smith was adjudged lbw to Mark Jonkman, giving the Dutchman his first ODI wicket, having scored a brisk 20, it all went horribly wrong for Gus Logie's team.
From 50 without loss, Bermuda collapsed to 89 for four and to 126 for seven, and but for stubborn resistance from Saleem Mukuddem who came in at number seven and compiled top score of 43 before being the last man out, it could have been even worse.
Mukuddem and Hasan Durham (11) put on 29 for the eighth wicket to add some respectability to the score, after too many bats had been guilty of hitting across the line.
Tim de Leede returned Holland's best figures of three for 26 off his allotted 10 overs.
