Bermudians topple top seeds
Bermuda?s men made up for their frustrations in the Pan-Am Squash championship?s individual competition with an impressive win over the top-seeded Canadians in the team event.
The Island?s top pro Nick Kyme swept aside Matt Serediak 9-1, 9-7, 9-2 to make up for his third round defeat on Sunday while Bermuda?s other pro James Stout overcame Dane Sharp in a physical contest 0-9, 9-8, 9-6, 9-4.
Stout came alive after a sleepy first game and in the ill-tempered seesaw battle that saw the referee berated on more than one occasion, the youngster came through for his team.
Although Tommy Sherratt was beaten 3-9, 2-9, 8-9 by Brian Ernst, the team go into today?s games against Guatemala and the US full of confidence.
Every team advance from the group stages but are playing for places in Thursday?s knock-out round.
The ladies team of Jenni Chamberlain, Denise Kyme and Liz Martin were defeated 3-0 by the Canadians.
