Best admits attack on NSC ?unfair?
Former West Ham striker Clyde Best moved swiftly yesterday to ease tensions among the National Sports Centre?s Board of Trustees, following criticism of the Centre voiced in the wake of the Santos soccer tour.
Best came under fire after he described in Tuesday?s edition of the NSC?s dressing room facilities as ?pitiful?.
But yesterday Best said: ?The National Sports Centre is not a bad stadium.
?And we know the stadium is not finished yet and they still have some additional plans to complete.
?My main concern lies with our local club fields. If we are to continue to bring top touring teams in from abroad to play at local club fields, then we have to bring our club facilities up to scratch.
?We know one or two things are not finished at the NSC. But the club level has just collapsed all around us and we need to find a way to fix that.?
Best conceded it was ?unfair? to pass final judgement on the yet to be completed NSC.
?I did say maybe one or two things about the NSC without seeing the full plans,? he added. ?I still believe the NSC is the Island?s best facility . . . although it?s not finished.
?But I?m sure they (trustees) do have future plans and I hopefully one day we (tour organisers) can use the NSC again.?
