BFA punish ref Wendy Woodley

Referee Wendy Woodley has paid the price for her part in the incident that saw the First Division clash between St David’s and BAA abandoned after a plastic bottle was thrown on to the pitch.

The official has been relieved of all her duties for the rest of the season, after Bermuda Football Association charged her with bringing the game into disrepute.

“The Executive Council have considered Wendy's role in a recent match that has given rise for concern regarding her performances,”the governing body said in a statement.

“Unfortunately, Wendy's actions contributed to bringing the game into disrepute and while recognising that sometimes-difficult circumstances in being a referee, the Council is of the opinion that referees must be held to the same standards expected of players and team officials.”
