Bosch team retain lead
First round net leaders Diane and Ken Bosch came back to the field after managing a second round of four-under-par 66 under delightful conditions in the second round of the Pompano Couples Classic at Riddell?s Bay yesterday.
Under the two-ball, better-ball format, the Hudsonville, Maryland pair couldn?t match their magnificent net 50 in the opening round at Belmont Hills on Wednesday but will still go into tomorrow?s final round of the 54-hole event with a three-shot lead.
It was Marsha and Kevin Kirrane of Sandwich, Maryland, who closed the gap most, adding a six-under 64 to their first-day 55 to take their two-day total to 119. Low score of the day belonged to Carolyn and Jim Hansen who turned in a nine-under 61 to leave them tied for fifth.
In the gross division, Los Angeles team Doug and Billie Far were pegged back by a shot but still hold a five-stroke lead after carding a 79 to go with their first-day 66.
Lisa and Darrel Russell moved up from seventh to second with an impressive 76.
The tournament concludes tomorrow at Port Royal with an 8 a.m. shotgun start and the couples playing under the Pinehurst/Alternate shot format.
