Boulevard Blazers announced their arrival back in the top flight with yet another emphatic display of markmanship to keep their unbeaten League run intact at BAA field yesterday.

"It has been a long hard year," said team captain and veteran defender Leroy Stevens moments before the trophy presentation.

"First of all, I would like to give thanks to God, the coach and my colleagues for sticking it out for the past six or seven months.

"It hasn't been easy! I didn't think that rebuilding was going to be so hard.

"But we still have to get over the last hurdle (next week's Shield final) and hopefully we can carry this momentum into the next season."

Conneko Trott gave Boulevard a deserved seventh minute lead with a glancing header that somehow managed to squeeze through a maze of players to beat Del Hollis at the near post.

Within five minutes, though, St.David's drew level - a defensive lapse allowing the industrious Worrell Bean to latch onto the ball and lob an onrushing Shejuan Swan.

Blazers were a bit unfortunate not to retake the lead when a free-roaming Tekeyhi Walker was thwarted by an alert Hollis.

Meanwhile, at the other end, St.David's continued to make their presence felt and were unfortunate when Dejuan Paynter's incisive first-time cross from the left was met on the full by Bean who sent in a crashing volley that whistled just past Swan's far post.

Blazers lively forward Stevie Wade then saw his brilliant solo effort come back off the post with Hollis stranded in no man's land.

But the home team were not to be denied on the stroke of halftime after their top-striker Melchisedec Gibbons was on hand to stab the ball home from close range after Wade had initially made a hash of his chance.

Determined not to go down without a fight, St.David's entered the second half full of determination and in the 60th minute they were unfortunate not to equalise.

On this occasion the efficient Lambe found himself in possession after the Blazers defence once again allowed the swift forward a free run at goal. However, the Swan was equal to the task and snubbed out the attempt.

That chance proved to be St.David's version of `Custer's last stand', as the introduction of Blazers' forwards Shaki Crockwell and Michael Parsons put an end to their chances.

In the 64th minute Boulevard's towering central defender Mitchelle Trott finally applied the killer-blow that would have made former stalwart Wayne `Bigga' Richardson proud - the lanky defender tearing the heart out of St.David's with a clinical header that soared past Hollis.

Gibbons was unlucky not to have netted his team's fourth in the 74th minute after he struck Hollis' near post and then Crockwell had not one, but two headers ricochet off the crossbar.

Parsons, however, would have the last say.

Just moments before the final whistle he was on hand to redirect Gibbons' cross from out on the left past the hapless Hollis to ignite the joyous celebrations.
