Afghanistan 239 Bermuda 179-10

Afghanistan romped to an historical and emphatic 60 run win at Bermuda's expense at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom today.

Led by Karim Sadiq's exciting 83 from 103 balls and an unbeaten 71 from skipper Nawroz Mangal, the Asians overcame a middle order slide to post a total that proved beyond Bermuda's reach.

Off spinner Rodney Trott was the pick of the Bermuda bowling with two for 33 while Janeiro Tucker seized two for 44 and pacer George O'Brien Jr two for 53.

In reply, Glenn Blakeney (68) and Stephen Outerbridge (62) shared in a 118 run stand.

But it still wasn't enough to deny Afghanistan victory which was sealed with the second ball of the last over when leg spinner samiullah shinwar trapped tailender Stefan Kelly (3) leg before in front.

Shinwar led Afghanistan's bowling with superb figures of four for 28 off seven overs.

Bermuda are winless in their two world cup qualifiers so far. And their chances of progressing to the super eight stage looking bleak with their qualifying fate truly out of their hands.
