Glenn Blakeney announced his return to international duty by cracking an unbeaten century to inspire Bermuda to a 146-run triumph over minnows Argentina at the ICC Americas Division One Championship in Florida today.

Batting at number three, the 35-year old left-hander battered the Argentine attack into submission as he cleared the boundary ropes 16 times in a whirlwind knock of 118 off 113 deliveries. He also shared in an unbroken 139-run fifth-wicket stand with David Hemp, who thumped 58 off 53 balls, that completely took the match away from the Argentines.

Today marked Blakeney’s first appearance at this level in four-years and first in this week's tournament after sitting out Bermuda's opening three matches against Cayman Island, Surinam and USA through knee injury.

Also coming good with the bat was the in-form Lionel Cann who slammed a robust 63 off a mere 33 balls in a knock that included 11 boundaries. He also added 92 runs for the first -wicket with Chris Douglas (29) before eventually becoming the first of Diego Lord’s (two for 38) two victims.

Third -change bowler Esteban Ninio also picked up two wickets for the Argentines, but at a cost of 70 runs.

In reply to Bermuda's massive total, Argentina were pegged back early as seamers Stefan Kelly (two for 27) and Stephen Outerbridge (one for 35) made the early breakthrough before passing the torch on to spinners Douglas and Rodney Trott who also took a wicket apiece to keep the pressure on.

Thomas Francis (50), Gary Savage (44 not out) and Alejandro Ferguson

(34) led the Argentine resistance before the overs eventually expired.

Bermuda’s comprehensive win would have done their confidence and run rate the world of good. However, any hopes of defending their Americas title now hang by a thread as USA - who beat Gus Logie’s men by 81- runs earlier this week - got past Canada today to move within reach of reclaiming bragging rights in the region.

The Americans play minnows Cayman Island tomorrow, knowing that an outright will hand them the title, while Bermuda face off against Canada in a match that has been granted full ODI status.
