Bridge bowled over by Lightbourne pace
Somerset Bridge 97
St.George?s CC 98-1
Herbie Bascome grabbed five wickets for 12 runs and son Oronde scored 50 runs off 31 balls to propel St.George?s to a nine-wicket thrashing of Somerset Bridge at Wellington Oval on Saturday.
Donnie Charles led the Bridge batting with an enterprising unbeaten knock of 47. However, his team-mates all failed to make significant contributions with the bat.
Charles belted five fours and a six of 54 balls, a knock largely credited for rescuing Bridge from early trouble.
Aiding Bascome in the bowling was youngster Kyle Hodsoll who claimed two for 14.
St.George?s surpassed their opponents? paltry total in only 9.3 overs, with Oronde shredding the Bridge attack.
Bascome, who dispatched the first two deliveries he faced to the boundary for four, went on to stroke six fours and three sixes in 41 minutes.
Fellow opener Ajuan Lambe added 19 runs off 15 balls, whipping three fours and a monstrous six over mid-wicket.
Off spinner Jermaine Salaam was the pick of the Bridge bowling with one for 20 off three overs.
