Bromby honoured by magazine
Bermuda's Olympic Star class sailors Peter Bromby and Martin Siese have been named as Seahorse Magazine's "Sailors of the Month" for May.
The local pair beat out Olivier de Kersauson after receiving 85 percent of the votes for the monthly award. Bromby and Siese received several prizes, including sailing accessories.
The Bermudians will be racing in Europe for much of the summer, their trip culminating in a bid for a first Star Worlds title at the ISAF multi-class championships in Cadiz in September.
"It's quite an honour," said Bromby, fresh off a second place finish in last week's New York Yacht Club regatta.
"They have one of the top sailing magazines in the world and they have a large readership. So it's an honour."
Bromby said he had so far enjoyed a fairly good spring, registering a third recently at the Spa Regatta in Medemblik, Holland.
"So far this year, it's been our best year by far and I think we are not even half way to where would like to be," he added.
"We still have a lot of plans ahead of us. But I think we were chosen (for the award) for the work we did over the winter which would've been the Rolex, the Bacardi Cup and US pre-trials where we were third."
Bromby, pictured in the magazine cruising in his boat, will now enjoy some rest before heading overseas in a few weeks' time to resume competition in the Star Class.
