Bromby in the hunt

Sailor Peter Bromby continues to be among the front-runners fighting for honours in this year's Star European Championship.

After four races, the top Bermudian is fifth on 21 points, 12 points adrift of current leader Mark Neelman of the Netherlands who has the low score of nine points.

Bromby boasted three top-ten finishes (4th, 7th and 10th) in the first three races in Cascais, Portugal, but then fell with a 12th-place finish in the fourth race that brought down his total as he was forced to use that as his discard.

Following today's rest day, Bromby and his crew, Martin Siese, will clearly be looking to make up ground on Neelman as well as the other competitors ahead of them.

At present, Brazilian Torben Grael is second on 11 points, Britain's Iain Percy, third on 13 points and Colin Beashel of Australia, fourth on 18 points.

Meanwhile, Bermuda resident Andrew Palfrey is also involved in the 62-boat regatta as crew for Australian Iain Murray. The pair are tenth in the standings with 31 points.
