Cann and Hemp in 20/20 squad
The Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the squad for the upcoming Stanford 20/20 clash against defending champions Guyana in February.
Glamorgan skipper David Hemp is included along with Lionel Cann who was sent home in disgrace from Bermuda's recent tour of Kenya for showing serious dissent to an umpire.
One notable absentee is all-rounder Janeiro Tucker who received a six-game ban earlier this month for allegedly swearing at an umpire during a match between Southampton Rangers and Cleveland County last season.
Also included in the squad will be the two players who miss out on selection for Bermuda Under-19s' World Cup trip to Malaysia. A 13-man team will then be selected from the 16 players for the Guyana game in Antigua on January 7, when a vice-captain will also be named. As revealed by The Royal Gazette earlier this week, Herbie Bascome has been appointed as Bermuda's coach for the Stanford 20/20, with Gus Logie travelling with the Under-19 squad. Lionel Tannock will continue to serve as team manager.
Bermuda, who meet Guyana on February 10, suffered a heavy defeat against Jamaica in their last Stanford 20/20 appearance, being skittled out for just 74.
Bermuda Under-19s saw another tour match fall foul of bad weather with their World Cup warm-up fixture against Powergen Sports Club washed out yesterday.
The Islanders match against Clico Preysa was postponed on Wednesday due to heavy downpours. The two sides are scheduled to meet today.
The tourists have played only two matches in Trinidad so far, going down in the opener against Connection Wanderers by eight wickets before bouncing back against Queen's Park to win by five wickets.
They are set to return to Bermuda tomorrow.
