Lavern Stowe and David Jenkins installed as the dark horses of the Mixed Doubles in the 74th Bermuda Lawn Tennis Club Invitational Tournament, will open their quest for silverware when they take on the unsuspecting pair of Carol Reid and Johnny Moore in first round play tomorrow at the Coral Beach Tennis Club.
Playing for the first time as a partnership in local tournaments, Stowe and Jenkins enter this tournament unseeded and are expected to cause waves in their section before they meet second seeds Heidi and Graham Boyle. Meanwhile top seeds Gill Butterfield and James Collieson are also in action against Nell Mayotte and Gordon Silver.
Meanwhile for the first time in more than 30 years, crowd favourite Dick Mount is unseeded in the Men's Singles 65, a division headed by Americans George Lynch of New Hampshire and Ron Groff of Maryland. The week-long tournament gets underway at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning.
