Couper, Donawa in top 10 at CAC race
The Bermudian pair of Jay Donawa and Ashley Couper produced top-ten finishes in yesterday's Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Cross Country Championships.
Donawa placed tenth overall while Couper was ninth among the women and was apparently the first English-speaking female to finish.
Her mother, Peggy Couper, said the California-based runner clocked 33 minutes and was "reasonably happy" with her performance in Acapulco, Mexico.
"It was an 8K and she is a mile runner so it's not really her distance," noted Couper, who spoke to her daughter by phone after yesterday's race.
"She (Ashley) said it was very hot and a tough course."
The third member of Bermuda's team, Jamal Hart, reportedly finished down the field.
No other details on the event could be obtained last night.
