Dillas on top of the world

Jarryd Dillas

Jarryd Dillas surged to the top of the leaderboard following the second round of the World Junior Golf Championship in California.

Dillas, playing in the 15 to 17 division at Torrey Pines Golf Club in San Diego, added a round of 70 to his opening 73 for a 143 total and a share of the top spot with South Africa's George Coetzee and Pijit Petchkasem of Thailand.

Dillas' compatriot Tyler Marshall did not fare as well, shooting an 88 to add to his opening round of 78 for an overall score of 166.

Dillas begins his third round at 12.55 p.m. Pacific time along with Anthony Chapparone of Poway, California, Jake Skinner of Boise, Idaho and Justin Dominic Tambunting of the Philippines.

Marshall goes out at 12 p.m. and will be accompanied by Brady Baguio of Bakersfield, California, Larry Blatt of Orlando Park, Illinois and Phil Hranac of Kearney, Nebraska.

Ebonie Burgess, playing in the girls' 15 to 17 division, had an eight shot improvement on her first round score of 85, firing a 77 yesterday for a 162 total.

Hannah Jun of San Diego continues to lead the way with a total of 141.

Burgess goes out at 10.17 a.m. today with Allison Goodman of San Diego and Mari Chun of Hawaii.

In the boys 13-14 division, second round scores for Blair Marshall and Mark Phillips were not available at press time.
