There was something sizzling at White Hill Field yesterday - and it wasn't Hamilton Parish Hot Peppers.

Instead, it was the red-hot boots of Paget forwards Dion Stovell and Yusuf Pitt that inspired the home team to their first win of the season.

Stovell, who transferred from Somerset Trojans during the off-season, helped himself to a fine hat-trick while Pitt added an equally impressive brace.

Parish, last season's beaten FA Cup finalists, managed to keep pace with their hosts for most of the opening half before Pitt and Stovell capitalised on two goalkeeping errors to earn the home team a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break.

From here Paget never looked back as Stovell struck twice after the restart to complete his treble while Pitt netted his team's fifth and his second goal to put paid to any hopes of a late Parish rally.

Seventeen year-old Norris Wilkinson then jumped off the bench to score the goal of the match with his very first touch of the ball, the youngster rifled Stovell's pass just inside the 18-yard box into the top left-hand corner of goal.

Nathan Simons then sent Paget into seventh heaven by rounding off the scoring.

X Roads 2 Prospect 1

X Roads put the handcuffs on Prospect yesterday at Garrison Field to maintain top spot in the First Division standings.

But first the East Enders had to come from behind to erase Brendon Harris' first-half strike before netting twice in the space of seven minutes to keep their unbeaten overall and home record intact.

The visitors, also beaten by the odd goal in their season-opener against Somerset Eagles, appeared to have lady luck on their side and seemingly destined for better fortunes when Harris' wind-assisted corner kick curled into goal minutes prior to the half.

However, X Roads finally shifted out of first gear and equalised through an unmarked Devon Rogers who made no mistake from close range.

Alfred Wolfe then settled the issue from the penalty spot seven minutes from time to assure X Roads remained perched atop the tables for another week.

Social Club 0 St.David's 3

Whatever St.David's' coach Kenny Bascome barked to his charges at half time proved to be highly effective as visiting St.David's rebounded from a lacklustre opening 45 minutes to shutout Social Club on their home turf at Bernard Park.

Bascome could only shake his head in disbelief as St.David's - with the wind at their backs - repeatedly made a hash of things in front of goal to keep the match scoreless at the half.

But Bascome's moving half time speech worked wonders as Warriors came out a different bunch in the second -half.

The Royal Gazette employee Kejuan Franks was first to repay his vocal coach by opening the scoring after 55 minutes before Landro Minors added a late brace to earn St.David's, held to a draw against Southampton Rangers the previous weekend, their first win of the season and put a satisfied smile on the face of an animated Bascome.

St.George's 2 Somerset Eagles 1

Second-half goals from Detroy Smith and ‘keeper Troy Hall propelled St.George's to victory at Wellington Oval.

After a scoreless first-half, Smith put the home team ahead before Hall doubled the lead from the penalty spot.

The East Enders, however, had to sweat out the closing minutes after Darren Dowling - as he had done the previous week against Prospect - notched a late goal to revive Eagles' hopes.

But it was not to be for the visiting team this time around as St.George's protected their slim lead to the end.

Southampton Rangers 1 Wolves 1

Kamen Tucker headed home what might have been the most crucial goal of his budding football career to earn Southampton Rangers a share of the spoils with less than a minute to play at the Oval yesterday.

Prior to Tucker's late heroics, or Wolves' costly lapse in concentration, the boys from Devonshire seemed destined for a second straight win on the back of Vince Minors' 50th minute spotkick.

However, poor marking robbed the visitors of maximum points with victory merely seconds away.
