The unorthodox bowling action of Hasan Durham has caught the attention of international observers.

Durham, who claimed four wickets for 45 to help guide Bermuda to a dramatic 11-run win over Canada on Monday, was written up by match officials immediately following the game for a ?suspicious? bowling action.

The report was made by on-field umpires Ian Gould and Roger Dill, third and fourth umpires Karran Bayney and Ruban Sivanadian and match referee Jeff Crowe.

The officials reviewed the player?s action during the match and in the light of their assessment he has been referred to stage one of the ICC?s process for assessing bowlers with potentially flawed actions.

?Hasan was written up by the presiding umpires of the game and also the third umpire brought it to our attention last night,? Bermuda coach Gus Logie confirmed yesterday.

?We spoke to him (Durham) about it to assure him that it is not an indication that he won?t be able to play again because there was no video evidence. It was just the umpire?s making a judgement with the naked eye.?

Durham did not play in yesterday?s victory over Argentina, allowing Logie to personally work closely with the veteran spinner.

?We did some work today and it is to his credit that Hassan has been trying to develop a few balls in his own development. But some of them have yet to be perfected,? Logie said.

?I?ve done some taping of Hasan and we are going to show the umpires this evening to se what they think of his action.?

Logie will also closely examine the action of Bermuda fast bowler George O?Brien Jr.

?I have spoken to George as well,? he said. ?It has been expressed that ? especially in the latter spells ? there seemed to be a difference in his (O?Brien?s) actions.

?He hasn?t been written up or anything like that, but this is just a precautionary measure.?

A press release from the ICC yesterday, stated: ?In relation to Durham, an expert in biomechanics will be appointed by the ICC in consultation with the Bermuda Cricket Board to provide an independent assessment of the spinner?s action within the next 21 days.

?The assessment will be submitted to the ICC which will, in turn, send a copy to the BCB. Until the BCB receives the assessment the player will be able to continue to play and any subsequent report has no consequence.

?If Durham is found to have been bowling with an illegal action he will be suspended from bowling in international cricket with immediate effect. He would then have the option of applying to the ICC for a re-assessment of his bowling action at any time in order to return to bowling in international cricket.?

BCB chief executive Neil Speight said: ?The ICC has made us aware of the process and we are happy to adhere to it.?
